Azarenka Wins Sony Ericsson Open Over Sharapova

Victoria Azarenka of Belarus defeated Russian Maria Sharapova 6-1 6-4 in a match which was not as close as the scoreline indicates for her 2nd Sony Ericsson title. Sharapova has now been in 3 finals in Miami and is yet to win a title. Azarenka will be ranked World #6 starting tomorrow, equaling her previous career-best, although she has never reached a major semifinal. 3-time major champion Sharapova will return t the Top 10 for the first time in two years.
