RuPaul's Drag Race is known for the outrageous characters chosen to appear on the show, but the show is equally notable for the egregious outfits that appear on the main stage and in the Interior Illusions Lounge.  Let's take a look back at the worst outfits of the season.

Now this is what a drag superstar is supposed to look like... Raja does Marie Antoinette Realness.  Congrats, Raja!  You are super mannish but still the fiercest queen this season!

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3, Episode 15 Recap: The Jig Is Up

"The jig is up" is perhaps my favorite phrase utilized by the ladyboys on RuPaul's Drag Race.  Last night, the last episode of Drag Race aired and, honestly, it has long been known among bloggers and other concerned individuals who the winner would be (wait for it...).  In this episode, the first challenge was for the queens to film scenes for RuPaul's new single "Champion" which involved the contestants getting up close and personal with members of the pit crew.  Their performances were somewhat lackluster, although Alexis Mateo managed to shine in her performance.  At the end of the episode, the queens strutted out on the runway in their fiercest outfits, really showing the judges and the audience exactly who they were.  Alexis Mateo is obviously the Puerto Rican bird-of-paradise and (IMHO) the frontrunner in the competition.  Manila Luzon is the Filipino superstar who manages to standout from the others with her image and humor.  Finally, Raja rocks the high-fashion androgyny image and no one does it quite like her (frankly, because she always looks like a man in heels).  Anyway, Raja won the competition (shocking).  Alexis was the first of the top three to go, which is sad because Alexis was sickening and was an incredible representative of Puerto Rico.  Manila was next to go and comforted herself by saying: "Well, I'm first runner-up, so if Raja dies of old age, I'll get the crown."  Great job, ladies.  Definitely an entertaining season!

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3, Episode 13 Recap: It's All About the Benjamins

It's down to the final four on RuPaul's Drag Race and the competition is tight among the queens for that final prize of $75,000 and all the other goodies that go with the title of America's Next Drag Superstar.  The episode began with Raja recovering after being in the bottom two for the first time against Carmen Carrera.  The mini-challenge consisted of coming up with a product idea and pitching it to Ru in a video.  Yara Sofia won the challenge with a giant ponytail thingie, although I thought Manila Luzaon deserved to win with her can of hairspray that could be used for all kinds of stuff (and which came with a free cap).  For the main challenge, the women had to come up with three looks and then choreograph a dance number for the usual judges, along with guest judges LaToya Jackson and Gigi Levangie Grazer (sp?).  As usual, Michelle Visage tore apart Alexis's outfit (in this case a swimsuit), since Michelle obviously finds curvy women unattractive, while Manila and Raja shined with their evening gown numbers.  The judges were not impressed with Yara's designs and placed her in the bottom two with Alexis.  During the lipsynch for your life, Yara had a breakdown and fell down to her knees and stopped lipsynching.  Yara, at this point, knew that she was going home and was eliminated, in spite of telling the judges earlier that she really deserved to win because she was "broke".  Yara's elimination caused Alexis to breakdown in tears as well and, apparently, thousands of fans worldwide are not happy with the decision.  That's show business...  BTW, is it wrong that Latoya is my favorite Jackson???

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3, Episode 12 Recap: Tuck the Jock Sock

Last night, one of the best episodes of RuPaul's Drag race ever aired.  It featured the queens transforming straight jock counterparts into their "drag sisters".  Last week's episode left off with Ru announcing that one of the queens would be returning based on the recs of the other judges: they decided to bring back Jersey's own Carmen Carrera (no surprise there).  The first challenge was one of those water dunking carnival get-ups and Alexis Mateo won the challenge no contest dunking poor Yara Sofia 14 times with her awesome pitching skills.  Afterward, the queens were introduced to five attractive straight jocks that they had to makeover into their own image.  As winner, Alexis chose the pairing of the jocks with the queens, choosing the jock with the strongest facial features, a waterpolo player named Slava, for herself.  Carmen ended up with a beefy jock baseball player, which ended up leading to her elimination during a lip synch for your life with Raja, whose friendly jock counterpart looked like "a bloke" in a dress in the words of Sharon Osborne. The transformations of the jocks was nothing less than amazing with Alexis Mateo's counterpart Slava outshining Alexis herself.  In the end, Manila Luzon won the episode because of the incredible chemistry she had with her counterpart "Fuschia Luzon".  The episode was so good that it's worth watching twice.  It was sad to see Carmen Carrera eliminated again, but with that body she'll have no problem finding work as a drag queen.

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3, Episode 11 Recap: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

This week's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race was all about hair.  For the first challenge, the queens had to design a hairstyle using props.  Raja won the challenge (with a wig made up of plastic lobsters and crabs) and had a five second lead in choosing wigs for the next challenge, which was to create three different wigs for three different looks: a classic look, a fantasy look, and a red carpet look.  To make things worse, the queens had to make their fantasy look dress entirely out of hair.  As usual, the girls complained about not having enough time for the challenge, but they managed to pull it off, with several of the contestants throwing together some pretty spectacular looks (like Yara Sofia who made a scorpion dress and Manila Luzon who looked like a honey bee).  Kind of makes you wonder about the rumors that the queens get some help in putting together their outfits.  In the end, Yara Sofia and her highly original looks won the day and she was announced by Ru to be the winner of the challenge.  Alexis Matteo and Shangela were in the bottom two and had to lipsynch for their lives to a song by Fantasia (a guest judge along with Wayne Brady).  Shangela did her usual showgirl performance, which wasn't right for the song, and she was eliminated.  However, RuPaul stirred up the pot when she announced that three judges (excluding herself) would have the opportunity to choose one queen to bring back to the competition for the next episode.  Looks like Ru is trying to stretch the season out.  My money is on either Delta Work or Carmen Carrera.  Please, God, don't let it be Mimi Imfurst...

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3, Episode 10 Recap: The Music Business Is A Drag

In this episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, the queens had to tackle RuPaul's new single "Superstar" in several different genres of music.  At the beginning of the episode, everyone is on edge because no one was eliminated the previous episode and so they are not really sure about where they stand with the judges.  For the first challenge, the queens had to play a game of musical chairs: Manila Luzon won the challenge and got to choose the order by which the queens would pick their music genre.  The genre affects how they would sing RuPaul's single in the studio and how they would perform on stage.  Manila won and she chose "disco" for herself.  Shangela was picked last and she was left with "Country".  The queens then went in to the studio with RuPaul's producer Lucien and had to record their songs in their respective genres.  Frankly, they all sounded awful.  the next day, they were given MP3 players to practice lipsynching their songs for the elimination.  Several of the queens looked great during the performance (especially Manila and Carmen), but their singing fell flat.  Raja nailed the elimination with her perfect punk performance, which included classic Doc Martens.  Raja won the week's challenge and Shangela and Carmen were up for elimination.  Although Shangela's lipsynch for her life was not the greatest, she completely out shined Carmen, who looked like she was bored and ready to go home.  Now there are only two "Heathers" left and the competition is stiffer than ever (pun intended!).

Manila Luzon looked the part of "Disco" but her performance fell flat.  She was saved from elimination.

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3, Episode 9 Recap: Proud To Be American

The competition is winding down with the queen that everyone love's to hate, Delta Work, going home on the last episode.  This episode was all about being patriotic.  The challenge at the top of the episode was for the queens to glam up a bra with their own personal style and Manila Luzon won the challenge by cutting holes in the nipples of the bra and pretending to shoot people with her nipple rays.  The episode challenge was to create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the troops serving overseas.  Alexis Matteo and Shangela got the most kudos from the judges, but Shangela fell flat during the runway show.  Yara Sofia did not impress the judges with her staple over-the-top Puerto Rican performance.  Raja did an awesome job during the runway show wearing a Village People Indian outfit.  In the end, Carmen and Yara Sofia had to lip-synch "para tu vida" (mistake on Ru's part: it's actually por tu vida) and in the end, Ru decided to let them both stay.  I was sure that Yara was going because Ru loves the pretty queens and is probably sleeping with Carmen (y'all know that Ru sleeps with at least one of the queens in each season, right?).  My guess is she's sleeping with Raja and Carmen.  Alexis Matteo deservedly won the challenge and proved that, although not the prettiest drag queen, she has the most heart and personality and may actually win this.
